Summer is in full swing here at One Little Bird World Headquarters – as is evidenced by the mountains of food my son is going through on a daily basis. School lunches really take the burden off the household grocery budget.

A wonderful digital scrapbooker emailed me several weeks ago to ask me whether I’d consider a couple of themes on her wishlist. I will say that fulfilling customer requests can be a tough thing for me because an idea has to speak to me on a personal level … otherwise I’ll sit in front of my screen for hours, tapping my fingers and waiting for an idea to come to me. A couple of her requests started taking immediate shape in my head, though.

So obviously we’re equally awesome.

My new mini-kit, Glow, was one of her requests. She had bundled it in with several other summer motifs but when I sat down to work I felt as though each motif was a separate thought altogether – and that night I was in a firefly sort of mood. Fireflies are a sort of universal symbol of warm, lazy summer nights. Some of my most memorable childhood moments revolve around chasing fireflies in the tall grass around my grandparents house.
