Weekend Reading (and Watching)

It’s Spring Break here this week, and this is the first time in as long as I can remember when it actually felt like Spring in March here in Wisconsin. Usually Spring Break is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek joke that the Universe plays on us to remind us that it’s Spring somewhere – but not here. Not for a couple more months, suckers!

Unfortunately for Nicholas, he started to come down with a cold at the end of last week. By the time he returned from his dad’s house this past Wednesday he was in full-fledged breakdown mode. He has approximately the same response to illness as I do: hopelessness and despair.

The photograph above is representative of his entire preferred treatment plan. Cough drops and Jolly Ranchers. (Oddly enough, although both of his cough drops are cherry flavored he does not seem to eat the cherry Jolly Ranchers. It’s like a cherry Jolly Rancher graveyard in the bowl, all the other flavors are gone.)

He’s on the mend now. His iPod is curing him.

This past week was decidedly less Spring Break-y for me. Rather than climbing aboard a recent wave of creative inspiration, I spent the majority of the week addressing real-life, adult things like my books for 2011 (which are now dropped off with my accountant) and remedying a carpenter ant problem in our kitchen (the Orkin man arrives Monday).

Which meant my creativity was put on hold until this weekend, and although I’ve been trying to take weekends off I think I might explode if I don’t sit down and create something.

Here’s what’s coming later this week.

Meadowlark by One Little Bird

I don’t even have it to my team yet, it’s still a work in progress. But I thought it would be fun to pull a few items out and give you a sneak peek.

Plus now I HAVE to finish it, because I put a date on it.

Items of Interest

Learning To Love Type | a “mini-documentary” by PBS Arts sure to thrill typography geeks and other creative types.

Instagram for Android Sign-up | they still haven’t given a release date for the Instagram Android app, but you can sign up to be notified when they do!

Pinterest Updated Their Service Terms | I know that Pinterest’s TOU has been the subject of much debate lately and they announced some changes today PLUS they’re “paving the way” for some changes to the service, like private pinboards. I like to think that Christine and I played an integral role in this.

Glitter: The Tramp of School Crafting Supplies | I’ve had this bookmarked for a while and keep forgetting to share it. For those unaware of my glitter phobia, read about it here and here.

Have a great weekend!

  • I am 100% with you on the glitter thing and that blog post you linked to is hilarious. I read your last blog post about glitter to my husband and he thought it sounded like I wrote it.

On a random tangent, can you tell me what font the “3.29.2012″ is typed in? I LOVE it.

Love the kit and can’t wait for the release. The Sunny Day word art and the banner need to be in my Project Life!!
