JOURNALING | I still totally love this, I think I always will. The sight of you curled up fast asleep, a tiny little person in a sea of bed and blankets even at 10 years old. I love the daily surprise of seeing what interesting position I’m going to find you in – you’re rarely where I’d expect you to be. This never gets old, despite the fact that you insist on getting old, yourself. I treasure these quiet moments where you’re predictably unpredictable, just as you have been since you were a baby. I’m in awe of your ability to fearlessly cover so much square footage while you sleep. I love the way you slowly blink yourself awake, a mischievous smile creeping across your face once you realize I’m standing there wondering how you managed to wind up upside-down or completely sideways in bed again. The silent question between us is always answered with a casual little shrug on your part, and I can’t help but laugh to myself as I turn away and wait for you to prepare for the day. This is one of the many reasons that I haven’t insisted that you start using an alarm clock. This is a moment that I’m still not ready to let go of.
