JOURNALING: Six months off and it was never going to get any easier to lace these suckers up and hit the gym – abandoning excuses like “I only like to run outside,” nevermind the fact that if I wait until it’s warm enough to run outside I won’t be running to the end of the driveway much less anywhere else. So hello, old friend. I may not have accomplished anything else of note this weekend, but you and I reconnected over our mutual hate of the treadmill, and our mutual love of the clarity that comes with putting one foot in front of the other, mile after mile.

MATERIALS: Instinct by One Little Bird; The Sunday Edition by Paislee Press; Title and Journal Blocks No. 1 by Ali Edwards; Neutraface 2 Text font by House Industries.

About This Project: A Year of Weekends is an ongoing album project that embodies my desire to stay grounded in the everyday unsung moments that make up the weekends of my life while also giving me a playground to express myself through design and storytelling – without any pressure to be poignant or a trendsetter. My goal is to always design these pages around products I already own or designed myself, which allows me to revisit some of my favorite kits and products and either use items for the first time or see previously used products in a whole new light. Sometimes the pages will be irreverent, other times they’ll be serious or emotional, but all of them are created in celebration of the extraordinarily ordinary moments that fill the 48 hours of each weekend.
Feel free to join in and post links to your own pages in the comments. Don’t worry about what products you use, all stories are welcome.

Love those colours and the great photo treatments. Good luck with one foot in front of the other!

Your journaling resonated with me – I, too, hate running indoors. I am an outdoor runner all the way. Except I live in Oregon and there’s not a good reason for me to take six months off (it snows once or twice a year where I live. If that….) so I’ve been pounding the pavement in 40 degree weather and pounding rain. Last year I took 3.5 months off and hated myself. This year I didn’t – and I’m so glad. YOU CAN DO IT!
