JOURNALING: The last of the three day weekends and the start of a new year. It’s bittersweet because we’re so relieved to have made it through the holidays, yet the idea of a 5-day work week seems so foreign at this point. I’m even starting to doubt my ability to pack a school lunch, it seems like it’s been months since I last had to. The guys spent a lot of the weekend playing games together over the home network, we discovered that Mo finds Star Wars: Battlefront utterly riveting to watch. We also spent the weekend jacked up on caffeine due to the new Keurig and the discovery of Gloria Jean’s cappuccino K-cups. We discovered that neither of us felt like sitting through The American, despite the fact that it stars George Clooney, but that Despicable Me is downright adorable. It felt good to spend the majority of the weekend in our pajamas, only getting dressed to go out for a New Year’s dinner at HuHot with my parents. It’s sad to think that we won’t see another long weekend until Memorial Day unless we take it upon ourselves. We were just starting to feel like professionals at slacking off.

About This Project: A Year of Weekends is an ongoing album project that embodies my desire to stay grounded in the everyday unsung moments that make up the weekends of my life while also giving me a playground to express myself through design and storytelling – without any pressure to be poignant or a trendsetter. My goal is to always design these pages around products I already own or designed myself, which allows me to revisit some of my favorite kits and products and either use items for the first time or see previously used products in a whole new light. Sometimes the pages will be irreverent, other times they’ll be serious or emotional, but all of them are created in celebration of the extraordinarily ordinary moments that fill the 48 hours of each weekend.
Feel free to join in and post links to your own pages in the comments. Don’t worry about what products you use, all stories are welcome.

Hi Peppermint,
I am beyond excited that you found my Year of Weekends blog and took the time to comment!
I’m really with you on the professional slacking. It’s kinda nice though how we can slip into that different state of holiday living so quickly. I went back to work yesterday for the first time since 16 December – not so bad though because it is still holiday time for most in my workplace so it’s quite a peaceful place to be
Packing lunches again though – too much brain strain!
While I think of it – just want to say thank you for your Macchiato Lightroom Preset – love it and use it all the time. I did three canvases of a Tasmanian historical site for our living room and the preset brought them all together in the best way.
Thanks, L

Loving this project! Our weeks tend to be pretty same old, same old from day to day but our weekends generally rock because it’s family time. Here is my link to weeks 1 and 2.
